“Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can’t practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.” ”
Meet Dr. Ebony M. Martinez
Owner & Licensed Trauma Psychotherapist of Calm. Counseled. Thoughts., PLLC
I’m a Georgia native, mother, and proud U.S. Navy Veteran with a lifelong passion for helping others find healing and wholeness. My academic journey began at American Military University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I went on to complete my Doctor of Education (Ed.D) in Community Care and Counseling with a clinical focus on traumatology, deepening my expertise in working with trauma survivors.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #16830) in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #9997 PC) in South Carolina. In addition, I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC #1369643), a proud member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of North Carolina (LPCANC), and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). My work is grounded in the Code of Ethics of both the NCBLCMHC and the American Counseling Association.
My Approach
I believe that every patient is unique—and therapy should reflect that. I use an eclectic, evidence-based approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic methods to best support your goals. I am trained in Trauma-Informed Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more.
Collaboration is central to the way I work. Together, we will identify the approaches that best meet your needs while building a safe, supportive environment. When patients feel secure and understood, therapy becomes a space that fosters autonomy, growth, and meaningful healing.
Who I Serve
I provide therapy to adults (18+) only, specializing in trauma, dissociation, mood disorders, severe mental health challenges, and those seeking integration of faith into their healing journey. For patients who desire it, I also provide Christian/Biblical-based counseling—a privilege I consider both sacred and deeply meaningful.
My Commitment
At Calm. Counseled. Thoughts., my mission is simple: to meet you where you are and walk alongside you toward greater healing and hope.
